Various tasks exist which makes volunteering easy for all ages, abilities, and availabilities! Examples of work to be done include being a route marshal or handing out food and water on run day or distributing/taking down posters and pledge sheet holders around the community in the months leading up to the run. 
We require volunteers for the 35th annual Markham-Unionville Terry Fox Run that is taking place on Sunday September 17, 2017 for the following roles: 
- route marshal (guiding and cheering along participants on the route and at the start and finish lines) 
- site set up and take down 
- other (ad hoc activities on site) 
Children's Miracle Network
At their respective schools
We work with the students to host a “Dance Marathon” event at their school. This is a 4-12 hour event that consists of students standing in symbolic support of their local sick and injured children through games, line dancing, activities and entertainment. We are looking for students to become Dance Marathon Ambassadors and bring this movement to their school!

We require a skilled person to work with on the development of a web-site that will tell the community about us and our activities. This may require a total of 5-6 hours including consultation with the WCM, development of draft and final products, and instruction on the up-keep and adjustment to the site.

Within the City of Markham
Groups of volunteers may donate community service hours to assist with beautifying the parks and green spaces within Markham. Maps, gloves and garbage bags are provided. Suitable for church, community or corporate groups. Groups must provide their own leaders to supervise people as well as refreshments. 
Other stewardship activities such as invasive species control and tree mulching, are possible depending on time of year and group size. 
Events:Keep Markham Beautiful Month in April, Ongoing Clean Ups, Adopt-A-Park program in Spring and Fall.
