KidCoach   Markham 
Future Possibilities Canada, Future Possibilities for Kids
Want to make a lasting difference in the life of a child? Become a volunteer KidCoach! 
 
You will have the opportunity to coach a Kid as they set out to accomplish a community-oriented goal. Following a structured curriculum in one to one coaching, you will help a kid learn how to reach higher, try new things, and discover a new level of self confidence that will make a lasting difference in their lives. 
 
Our adult coaches have fun too, while they develop coaching skills and connect with other volunteers in the program. 
 
As a KidCoach you will commit to: 
 
Orientation 6:00 - 8:00 PM (120 Eglinton Ave East 6th floor)

Positive adult role models needed for a child/youth in service at Kinark. Meet weekly with a child/youth to provide friendship, positive experiences and fun.

Volunteers will be matched with a senior that can benefit from a positive relationship with a supportive volunteer. Every effort is made to match people with similar interests or backgrounds in order to give the friendship a starting base on which to build.  
Greek, Cantonese, Italian, Hebrew, Russian, Tamil, German, French, Mandarin and Dutch speaking residents, and volunteers who can speak these languages are very welcome, however it is not a requirement. 
 
Chatting with residents, taking residents out to the garden.

Crohn's and Colitis Canada
Throughout York Region
Educate individuals with Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis, their families, health professionals and others about Crohn's and Colitis Canada as well as help implement fundraising initatives to raise money for inflammatory bowel disease medical research. 
 
Participate locally at the chapter level with community fundraising and national events such as the Gutsy Walk.

The volunteer could help with set up of activities, assist in administering the programmed activities, encouraging resident attendance, have one-on-one visits, contribute to planning ideas, use the computer for help and advertising and research, share personal skills and talents.
Canadian Blood Services, Toronto Region
Assist donors in hospitality are of clinics with refreshments while engaing in conversation and monitoring for reactions. Assist at community events to promote blood donation. Assist with our ABO Typer on weekends and during the day.
Salvage Crew   Markham

Various locations in the Toronto, Brampton and York Regions.
Drive to a potential donor's home (could include house, apartment, or construction site). Take pictures using a "smart phone" or digital camera & upload them to Dropbox either at home or in the office. Take measurements of kitchens, counter tops, vanities etc. and fill in the appraisal sheet. Outreach to potential contractors and/or homeowners. Assist the Manager of Salvage and Donations or ReStore Corporate GIK (Gift-in-kind) Coordinator with outreaching to potential corporate donors. Attend training sessions. Other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Volunteers are needed to go into Senior's home and exercise with them, to lead a congregate program at a community centre or apartment building lounge. Volunteers need to commit to one day a week for an hour or more depending on volunteer to exercise with the Seniors.
